Respect Ratings?

Hi,

I've been having a look around on a few forum-related websites and the associated modifications you can get for them and one of them caught my eye in particular.

Aswell as the cash system we have, how about something like a respect rating system, where members can choose to respect another member or not and subsequently effects their respect rating.

I don't have a link, sadly, as I forgot to bookmark the page - but I'm sure some of you web guys know what I'm on about?

I know what you're talking about, it would be sort of a karma system. We had that on the forum very early on, and I took it off because it wasn't really right for the forum. I'll think about putting it back on, and if I decide to put it back on the forum I will do that either tomorrow or this weekend.

Okay, cool.

I see where you're coming from with it not being right for this forum, and you know best as you had it on here before.

I'm a member of a huge forum for the industry that I'm in and I think it's a great system, not jsut for people that work in my industry, but also for the enthusiasts who display a lot of knowledge in the field. (Trying not to breah any advertising rules there - I hope what I said was general enough not to give anything away)

Don't worry about the advertising rules with something like that, when you're just giving an example, but thanks for having respect for the rules.

As for the karma mod, I'm not ruling it out yet, I said I'll think about it, which means there's a decent chance that I will end up giving it a shot. I'm just busy right now with my final exams, so when they are over (tomorrow at 3:00pm EST Very Happy

) I will try the karma mod out.

On another forum i go to they had a respect system. Where you give them +1 or -1 and a reason why.

But they got rid of it because people we're too immature with it. They -1 people for no real reason. Or someone +1 there friends.

My tests tomorrow are in health and Spanish, today I had English and math, yesterday I had English and History, and Tuesday I had chemistry. They've been pretty easy, only 2 left then I'm done with this year of school.

I will try out the karma mod, but I'm not saying we will definitely keep it. We will give it a sort of "trial run."

I was just trying to add the KARMA mod and I was having some trouble setting it up. I'll keep trying though, and if I can't I'll try to add a similar mod.

I don't think it would work well on this forum. It works better for forums that have GFX artists that make stuff for people or for GFX sites. Wouldn't work well at all here.
