I know, but the idea from the writers to use an empty pistol is just weak.
That's what I think, there will be people disagree.

no he got shot down by the fighter jets that were with Air Force One.

By the way the F-117 cannot fire air to air missiles.

Yeah, he does confirm, it's just hard to pay attention to that when Jack is getting so emotional, along with everyone else at CTU and the White House. I remember that scene as being quite dramatic.

I've read where it's mentioned very briefly about the jet going down after the crash, but I've never heard it. I would think Mitch would of parachuted out in time.

He knews it was risky and that they will try to shoot him down.
I think he taked precaution measures to be sure he would survive.
He did it only for the money.
