Very interesting to kill off Palmer and Michelle in the first 15 minutes. If this happened in Season 6 I think 24 would have been ruined but the awesomeness of S5 more then compensated for the deaths of beloved characters.

What does everyone think?

I wasn't too pleased about these deaths, but it was necessary for the plot, because it set up the rest of the season.

I agree. As the constant theme of the show shows, sometimes sacrifices have to be made for the greater good, and in this case the sacrifices are killing off many beloved characters. But you have to admit, it did make for one kick-arse storyline and season!

I'll still never get over the sight of Palmer being shot in the neck, but you're right...!

Was anyone happy to see a certain character die? Like say, if you were annoyed by them or something? And was anyone really mad to see a character go? I was mad to see palmer go, and I'm sure everyone will agree with me, but again, without that death there wouldn't have been a storyline.

I agree that it was necessary for David Palmer to be killed off, but I was still sad and angry lol he was one of my favorite characters.

Yep, even Dennis Haysbert was pretty mad that his character was getting cut. I have even heard that he still holds a grudge. I don't blame him in a way. I would hate to get booted off that show, especially when he was there for so long, and such an influential character. But on the other hand, I'm sure he understood how it contributed to the overall storyline.

Well I would hardly think that he would be content with Allstate commercials and The Unit after being one of the main characters of 24 for 5 seasons!

My friend has that 24 table book with a whole bunch of photos in it, and there's many pages of the last day of filming for Dennis, he wasn't happy in any of them. I guess characters have no problem acting sad when they are killed in a show because they're thinking about that giant paycheck they get to kiss goodbye. 24 actors are among the highest paid on TV, and Kiefer is actually the highest paid TV actor with an average of 40 MILLION a year!!

Dennis had a steady job, I'd be unhappy as well if i got the cut. But every actor in the back of their head would know that they might not last forever, especially in a show like 24.

Yeah, I guess they only get one script at a time, and they are always wondering if it might be their last (except for Jack of course... well, for now at least).

I love how the more you watch, the deeper you realise the consipiracy goes, and the more people you realise are envolved with it, and how they are all playing each other (Logan vs. Walt Cummings)

I was quite happy to see Michelle go in the 'purge'. While she is a great character, her reappearance in Day 4 was where I started to think "You know, maybe she could go next...?"

Wasn't happy about Tony (although that's now been fixed), and to be honest didn't mind seeing Palmer go. Staying or going, I didn't mind either way. Haysbert is happy with The Unit now, right? Third season about to start?

Well, I think it seems that as soon as a character is happy, or something is going right, it's going to be followed shortly by death, or an explosion, or in this case, both. Lol, if you think about it it's entirely true.

That's the (sick, twisted and unfair) beauty of the show!

Yep, I guess we're all a little sadistic in one way or another. Wink

Edgar was a good character but i thought he could've been better in his last scene. It wasn't very good acting in my opinion.

I didn't like Edgar. His death, although sad at the time, doesn't really hang with me like the deaths of Palmer, Michelle, even Nina.
