HITMAN (2007)

Based on the popular videogame series, this film is the first in a planned series of major action blockbusters based arouns the assassin Agent 47 (Timothy Olyphant) and his dark, complicated life.

I'm so excited about this film! It was released in the States yesterday, and is released here in the UK Friday December 30th, and I'm going on the first night with a huge bunch of mates. I'm a massive fan of the videogame series and the film looks brilliant, completely in keeping with the source material.

When i first heard Olyphant was playing Agent 47 i didn't think it was such a good idea, he doesn't look like 47 much. Should be a good movie though.

I don't know... while clearly the role was made for Jason Statham (The Transporter) or Vin Diesel (xXx), I liked Olyphant in Die Hard 4.0 as the baddie and think he's got a really expressive manner that would help portray the character of 47 with minimal lines (as apparently in the film he says next to nothing).

A week today and I'm seeing it, I'll report back here with a review!

Review:

Well, the short version is that it kicked all kinds of butt. An amazing action shoot-'em-up assassin film which captured the feel of the videogame series while also delivering a unique fresh approach.

Olyphant was brilliant. The cast varied around him from great to average to quite bad, but he was consistently wonderful.

Lots of shooting, blood and swordplay. All stunningly directed, apart from one final fist fight which was quite badly shot, but otherwise some great, tense fight sequences and stealthy kills. Plus running away from an explosion in slow-motion? Yes please!

Great stuff.

I saw the movie a couple weeks ago and it's a real good movie.
I was funny to see "Bagwell" in it.

When I saw the movie I was kind of hoping it would follow one of the plots from the game, but it didn't. I was kind of bummed out on that, but as the movie progressed I found the plot to be fascinating. I felt like I was playing the game the whole time I was watching the movie and loved it. Great movie, 10 out of 10.
