He did die when he "faked" his death. His heart stopped so that Dale Spalding (that SS agent) could take his pulse to confirm his "death"... Hence the shot of epinephrine to revive him.

Yeah, but I mean 'they' didn't kill him. his death was a result of everything hitting the fan, but they never directly killed him. lol, anyways...

Suicide? No. I don't think so. The only time Jack's been wanting to kill himself was when he volunteered to take the Cessna down in S2. Mason knew what Jack's true intentions of taking the plane were. Now, of course Jack wanted to save LA, but for him it was also a convenient excuse to kill himself and go out as a hero. He needed to escape from his personal pain of losing Teri and Kim hating him. The other thing in S4 was needed to escape from the corrupt government.

Nina's such a bitch, which makes her so hateable, and such a good villian. Henderson is very good too, because of his close past with Jack, and how Jack was recruited into CTU by Henderson.
