Watching Twenty-Four: Day 6 on DVDI thought I'd just start up my own little topic where I'll come and post my feelings and opinions on Twenty-Four: Day 6 as I watch through the season for the first time on DVD.
I got up early this morning and powered it into town to grab my copy of the Region2 DVD Collection, out new today. I ended up spending almost £100 on DVDs in HMV, getting not just Day 6 but also Day 1 (it was on special offer) to complete my Twenty-Four DVD set! Needless to say I've seen Day 1 loads, so the first thing in the DVD player when I got back was the first disc of Day 6.
Here are my mini-reviews of each episode as I watch:
- 6:00am to 7:00am
I cried when Jack was returned to Bill and Curtis at Point Magu and Jack could barely talk. The acting is really top notch from everybody, especially Kiefer, although Bill this time round has more teeth, yelling at Chloe over the unauthorised satellite (and again later in a few hours). The first part of this episode moved very quickly, introducing a lot of new information and characters since Day 5 ended, and perhaps that's a bad thing, but soon I was completely back in the zone, enveloped in the world of Twenty-Four like I'd never left. Outstanding horror moment: Jack biting the neck of an enemy and spitting it out!
- 7:00am to 8:00am
Lots happening in this episode, with two major action pieces: al'Assad and Jack running from the house that was bombed by President Palmer; and the Metro suicide bomber towards the conclusion of the hour. Again, a fast pace, but by this time I'm settled and so can take loads on board. I'm liking Wayne as President, and loving the wicked, slimy character of Tom Lennox (Peter MacNicol)! Here's fingers crossed for more political double-crossing before this day is out!
- 8:00am to 9:00am
This is where I start taking interest in the subplot of the family held hostage by Ahmed Asad (Kal Penn). The family members are all great actors, and I recognise the father and kid from other shows, and Ahmed is a great character who you initially liked and now loathe. I was also shocked at the General's involvement of releasing the bomb-maker from the prison bus... a very unexpected twist! With the tension starting to build between Curtis and al'Assad, too, things are looking bleak.
- 9:00am to 10:00am
Interesting how we're getting intel from even inside prisons, with Sandra Palmer's boyfriend/husband relaying whisperings from inside his internment camp. Okay, fine, there's only one thing to talk about in this hour: Jack shooting Curtis and the nuclear bomb going off! I cried, I gasped, I was completely shocked... I just don't believe it. There has never been in the history of the show such a massive episode cliffhanger as this episode has, period. The stunned silence of the characters watching the nuke go up was reflected in me, I must admit. This is insane!
So, I'll update this later once I've watched more episodes (going for an average of six per day, finishing on Thursday) and then finally do an overall season review at the end. Feel free to comment, dispute, debate or chip in if you're either watching on DVD here in the UK or just passing through!

Indeed.
Apologies: I didn't keep up with episode reviews. I've just finished watching episode seventeen of Day 6... for the second time! I'm going through them again.
I may post a review of the final episode when I watch it.

Yeah, I guess if I bought a ticket and all, I'd have no money left over for the DVD, so I'd have to come to your place to watch it. lol.
