Kiefer honored by Canadian Actors Union for 24There was a nice honor for Kiefer last week. He was lauded by ACTRA, the main union representing Canadian actors.
The Alliance of Canadian Cinema Television and Radio Artists gave him the Award of Excellence this past Thursday at a reception in L.A..It's president called Sutherland a great Canadian sucess story,and stated they were "proud of him for strong support of other Canadian actors in Hollywood, while building one of the most sucessful careers in the industry."
Sutherland's grandfather Tommy Douglas was a legendary Canadian poliitcian who created the countries admired universal health care system, and the emmy award winning actor continues to speak out in favor of public health care.
The Award of Excellence is presented every two years,predominantly to an actor working in L.A. Previous winners include Leslie Nielsen and Tonya Lee Williams.

I took it off some wirecopy on the Canadian Press service and paraphrased the story for brevity, which is why there was no credit to it's original source.
