I don't like the fact that...Jack seems so willing to die. He won't accept the treatment from Kim, even though she would do anything to prolong his life, even if it means her death. Also, Jack won't accept that there's a possibility of being cured. He simply tells everyone "I'm dying" flat out. Anyone else feel this way?

Wouldn't you feel that way?
His wife gets killed.
His daughter almost gets killed multiple times within 7 years.
He becomes a heroin addict.
He is forced to murder Chapelle, amongst other people.
Kim hates him, or she did anyway.
He has been tortured in prison.
He was hunted down by his own country that he has saved countless times.
He was pulled into a large conspiracy because of Dubaku.
Now he is dying a slow painful death.
I don't blame Jack for wanting to die. His sanity has been stretched so thin it's amazing that he can actually still focus on these terrorist attacks while his mind is slowly eating itself. I think he wants to die not just because of all the pain he has gone through but because he thinks Kim would be better off and safer if he was dead.

It just doesn't sound like Jack to give up so easily. Even after what he's gone though.

He thinks Kim will die if he does the operation. He doesn't want that to happen so he doesn't want to go through with it.

Yes. As siad, you haven't to think of what this dude has been through his entire life. Everyone around him has died, or has been scared for life becasue of jack. Death would be a vacation for jack, and i'm sure he's ready for a break.
It's his character, always has been ... he's willing to sacrifice himself, and this is no exception.

Some article said that 24 is providing more than twists, they're contortions. That's how I feel at least.

i dont believe jack is giving up. i think he feels its time for him to move on{meaning die} every warrior knows he has a red dot on his/her forheads and i think jack believes its his time but he wont go with out a fight. hewold want his death to mean something.

I was thinking about this for a while too, and I was reminded of a scene in Season 2.
When Jack was flying the plane armed with a nuke out of LA and into the desert and George Mason was stowed away on the plane. Mason, who was going to die within the next few days anyway, offered to fly the plane down while Jack safely parachuted out, but Jack refused. Mason pointed out that Jack wanted to die because of what happened to Teri, and he wouldn't let Jack kill himself.
It seems like Jack is in a very similar position; so many horrible things have happened to him that he is not only accepting death, but is anxiously awaiting it's arrival, and until Kim or someone else can persuade him otherwise, he will continue to feel that way.
