Well, not only is it an extension of the whole "suicide bomber" theme in so much real-life terrorism (tho I hadn't thought of the proximity of the nuke to her family before), but also I think she was still conflicted enough inside to feel some guilt about what she was doing, so that dying in the explosion would somehow atone for that, plus insuring her family would be close enough to ground zero to die immediately rather than suffer through the aftermath, which salved her feelings.

I think you're right on the suicide bomber thing, but as you can clearly see when they finally have her imprisoned, and she speaks to her father ande sister, it's more than plainly obvious that she feels no remorse or guilt whatsoever for her actions. She was just willing to die for her cause, nothing more.
Also bear in mind that she was a terrorist, so the wedding was probably just a smokescreen for her real activities and she would most likely have made a run for it at some point very shortly before the bomb was set to go off.

All that may be so, but it would have depended on how long they spent brainwashing her. I don't think many Westerners could be so immersed in the whole terrorist mindset that they cease to be at all affected by their previous relationships. I think most people are more complex than fiction would have us believe. And I think it's a wonderful trademark of 24 that the writers try to create depth to many of the characters, Tony from this season being a prime example. I would have liked to know more about what made Stephen Saunders from s3 become the way he was by the time we met him. (Of course, as I understand the Islamic jihadists mindset, all family members who perish in an attack would be considered martyrs for the cause who earn a place in Paradise. That would certainly salve any vestiges of Marie's conscience.)
