Even if that is true, what does it mean?  Tony told Larry to swallow something, and then puts his hands over his mouth?  Either way, Larry's dead.  I've finally gotten over my denial.

I'm afraid I'm just going to have to accept that the 24 writers have simply no credibility and will cheat their audience to spin out a storyline because they have no creative ideas left.

The whole "Tony is bad..Tony is Good..Tony is Bad.." thing is just rediculous.

There are huge plot holes in this for one thing. Tony was in custody, there is no way he could have known that he would be put on a chopper with Larry and taken to that location with him in order to join up with the guy with the canister. What would he have done if Larry had simply stuck him in the back of a squad car and said "See ya later Tony"??

Not to mention the far more important issue of lacking character credibility.

We know 24 is built on "plot twists", but a good plot twist should surprise the audience in a way which pleases them, and fits in neatly and cleverly with the story, where as, increasingly, plot twists in 24 seem heavy handed and completely arbitary.

"Ooh..we're out of ideas..lets do the Tony being bad thing again".

It's also just not as interesting. Tony as a man who has made moral mistakes and is on a road to redemption was a clever and multi-faceted character, but if this turns out to be "ha! I was just fooling you all along and I'm really evil!" then he's just a paper-thin pantomime villan to boo and hiss at.

Not impressed.

Spoiler:

IN the preview for the next 24, there's an image of Renee with Jack and Tony in the background at the scene of Larry's murder.  It doesn't look like he's in custody, so neither know that Tony killed Larry and that Tony is working with that Starkwood employee.  Either way, Tony's still going to make it back to the FBI HQ...he would have made it there even if Larry had put Tony in a squad car.  And Tony would be home free to phone the Starkwood operative.

Not too big of a plothole, because the Starkwood operative would be waiting for Tony's call either way.  .[spoiler]

By the end of the season though, I want Tony to be dead...either Jack or Renee can kill him, but if they don't I will be so ticked.  I'm very mad about the way he played Bill

nah tony's a main character who is integral to the show now....I'd be surprised if they kill him by the end of the day

I forsee he either being good and working with jack somehow in season 8
or
running away to new york and jack off to hunt him 6 weeks later for season 8

Ever since Larry entered the Starkwood-compound I had the strong feeling he'd not survive this season, so last episode kinda confirmed that. Speculating about whether he is still alive or not is highly theoretical at the moment.
Yet I'm be very interested in how the writers are going to dissolve this weird twist of Tony. Now he's the bad guy again?! Very strange and confusing. Thus far I don't see any logical explanation for that.

Well, here's one. Tony found out that someone even higer than Hodges was willing to pay even more for the bioweapon so he had to go undercover again to find out who this guy is.

You're losing it. I can guatantee that Tony isnt suddenly a bad guy. I mean, he just saved thousands of people by destroying that bioweapon. i would bet anything that Tony is undercover again. In fact: it's very obvious.

The fact that Tony is in season 8 should tell you enough.

i'm hoping u are right, vidman.  not only cuz i like Tony, but also because Jack doesn't need to lose another friend, either to death or thru betrayal.  can the guy get a break?  (altho he got one in Kim coming back into his life.  hope he honors how hard it was 4 her to do so by taking her up on the treatments.)

Are u serious? Is he really in 8th season?

I will judge Tony only after the last episode. We don't know the whole story yet.

I know.
But here's hoping.

And I'm not losing it...

Spoiler:

Carlos Bernard confirmed himself that Tony really is "bad" and he played Bill the entire time.  Tony never wanted to hurt civilians, but he did want revenge on the Government.

I know that, but I only judge someone if I know his reasons why he did it.

Of course Carlos said something like that in an interview. He's obviously not going to say that he's still a good guy. Smile

in all fairnes, i initially thought alot into the whole plot about Tony too.

but if you think about it, it's actually inconsequential.

the Starkwood operative is exactly that - a Starkwood operative. he works for Starkwood and therefore has reasonable access to the compound and facilities. Tony doesnt.

Tony collaborated with him, for reasons unknown at the moment.

the operative's mission was to steal a canister. as an employee of Starkwood, he is the perfect candidate for such a task.

Tony being in custody doesnt change that. the initial plan was probably for the operative to escape on his own without Tony's help. the fact that Tony was on the helicopter when Larry went to chase him was a good coincedence for them and basically, it worked out better for Tony and the operative. in fact, the operative probably was supposed to escape quietly with the canister anyway, and messed up when he was caught out by the FBI and had to resort to shooting their agents.

however...

if it turns out that Tony and the operative are loyal to Starkwood and Hodges, and this is their leverage for Hodges against the government, THEN i'd be really annoyed, cos then why the hell did Tony destroy the bioweapon in the first place? why not purposely fail?

as for Tony being in series 8... i havent heard if this was officially confirmed. i had only heard rumours of that, or rumours that they were in negotiations, but nothing concrete.
