Sutherland Thankful He Kept His Job

24 star Kiefer Sutherland is thankful he kept his job after spending Christmas in jail for drink driving.

The actor was sentenced to 48 days in jail after he was caught driving under the influence in Los Angeles last September.

He subsequently spent his 41st birthday, Christmas and New Year's Eve behind bars.

Now free and back on the set of hit show 24, Sutherland is counting his blessings - because his stupidity could have cost him his job.

He says, "I made a really dumb mistake, and to be able to get back to work, which is something I feel comfortable doing and is a safe place for me, I was grateful to have that opportunity.

"I have friends who have made similar mistakes who have not been that lucky."

to be honest he wasn't ever going to lose his job on 24 for that mistake! But fair play to him for coming out and saying that, also I believe he choose those times so it would affect the filming of 24, however with the writers’ strike it didn’t matter, so he spent his bday and xmas behind bars when he could have served his time another time!

tut tut on kiefer's part but he never looked like loosing his job. I mean, he is 24, the show couldn't exist without Mr Bauer, and if they replaced him with someone else there would be an uprising!

24 wouldn't have the affect it does with out keifers great acting. He is the show. With out him 24 probably would have been a typical run of the mill show. Thank god for kiefer an jack bauer.
