"MTV News in April 2006, the show's star Kiefer Sutherland announced that a script was in development and that the film would abandon the real-time format of the show, but instead would cover one 24-hour period." - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/24_%28film%29#Feature_film
Do you think the producers are making a mistake by not using real-time?

I don't this it's a bad idea because if the movie was in real-time, it would be too short to cover a 2-hour period, and not enough would happen to build up the storyline.

Yeah absolutly when i first heard there was gonna be a movie i hoped it would be real time, it just wouldnt work, they cant show enough of a storyline in 2 hours.

There are examples of non-real time 24 stuff, like the Day 6 Debrief and the comic books and game, which all work amazingly and are worthy additions to the franchise.
Ticking clock in film? Yes!
Real time in film? No!

Imagine if the movie was actually 24 hours long. That would be the most awesome test of a true 24 fan, whether they could watch the entire movie! lol! I think if I did that I would have to buy the largest drink the theatre had, and not just for drinking either! lol. Of course, a 24 hour long movie would really just be like a regular season I guess.

If the movie were 24 hours long, I'd probably wait till it came out on DVD, buy it, then watch a couple hours every day for a couple weeks. But that'd be the exact same as a full season

Yeah, I was thinking that. But then they could have it in theatres for the die hard fans! Lol... Tickets are expensive enough now...

That would be crappy if it just went right to DVD, granted we could see it sooner, but still.

Wait, there's a Family Guy movie?
The only way they can go is make it say, 3 hours long with the last 1 or 2 hours in real time.
But no matter how they do it, it's not going to be the same 24.

3 hours would be fine. The third POTC movie was pretty close to 3 hours and I saw in theaters twice.

POTC 3 was a really good movie, the first POTC is still the best.

Yeah, not many sequels are ever as good as the first ones, but if the 24 movie was about 3 hours long, I think it would toleratable.
