In my opinion, having used both Gimp and Photoshop, Gimp is better and much easier to use than PhotoShop, plus it's legally free!

oh right i just downloaded adobe photoshop 7.0 i dont know if it any good, ive never used it lol

Make sure you do this tutorial first: http://www.gimptalk.com/forum/top...terface-In-Half-An-Hour-20-1.html
then do the other tutorials.

That site is very slow, so you have to be patient and let it load.

Photoshop is so much better. Once you get yourself familiar with it it's easy to use and can produce excellent graphics.

I haven't used much GIMP, i had it at my old school and only used it once or twice. I found Photoshop easier to learn. I've now been using PS for over a year.

CS3 is hardler to learn but definitely a much more powerful program

For beginners though, GIMP, FTW

I've been using GIMP for about 1 year now, I'm gonna try and get Photoshop, but the only thing is, I need more RAM before I can get it... Rolling Eyes

How much you got?

1Gb will be suitable just not running very much in the background

See as with me, i got 2Gig and a core 2 quad, so i can run photoshop beatifully and other programs in the background

My computer sucks lol.

I have 504mb RAM, but on the Adobe website it says the minimum requirement is 512mb, so I think buying 128mb should be fine to run Photoshop.

I prefer paint shop pro really. But i would choose CS3.

I've used Gimp for a few years but I can't say that I'm really knowledgeable with it. I just play around with it till I get what I want. Or find something better than I want...lol

I don't have the $$ to spend on expensive programs. So Gimp works for me.

I prefer gimp for its easy options for myself, just more homey.
But i use photoshop for its advanced detail to gfx.

You can't compare CS3 with Gimp because even Photoshop 7 owns Gimp.

Whycantkimdie (do you have a shorter name?), i can get you a copy of Photoshop if you want. Smile
