I'm not sure if this has been discussed yet or facts going against this theory has been on later seasons but is it possible that the attack on Air Force One wasn't just to get the nuclear football but to also put Logan in play?

That's a good question. I do remember Graem saying "we need to remember the strenght we had when we started this thing 18 months ago" to his group. So that could be possible sense day 4 was 18 months before day 5.

The only thing that does conflict this, was how weak Logan was ... even if he was acting out to hide the intensions. He shoulda never had to bring David Palmer in for guidance; if he knew what he was doing.
It is a good theory though, which should trigger more opinions on the thought.
When Graem (or however you spell it) was being tortured he said something like 'sometimes you have to terrible or even unforgivible things for the good of my country' this could be assasinating President Keeler and giving the terrorists a chance to get the football.

Tony Almeida season 7 episode 24
Air Force One is a prominent symbol of the United States in general and the office of the presidency in particular. Whenever the president travels overseas or across the country, he takes his high-tech deluxe jumbo jet with him. On September 11th, the president's plane showed that it was much more than an executive jet -- it became a mobile bunker when all ground positions seemed vulnerable to attack.

It is a good theory. And Logan was weak in season 5. When the master plan began to unravel, so did he. He couldn't make a decision without counsel and then would blame the counsel when things didn't work.
